Subspecialty Exams Dates  August 5, 2020

August 5, 2020

An email was sent to subspecialty exam candidates on August 4, 2020 with the administration dates for the Fall 2020 Primary and Subspecialty Remote Certification Exams and information on the required Practice Tutorial.

Specific exam date assignment(s) will be coming to candidates in the following weeks in a separate email.

All emails were sent to the primary email address candidates have listed in PATHway.

Subspecialty Exams Will Be Remote    July 9, 2020

Due to the ongoing health risks of COVID-19, the ABPath has been working diligently to administer this year’s certification exams remotely. We are pleased to inform you that the ABPath fall 2020 Primary and Subspecialty exams will be administered as remote, secure, live tele-proctored exams taken from your home or office. The health and safety of our candidates and staff are our highest priority. No exams will be administered in the Tampa, FL exam center in 2020. When it is safe to do so and for exam security, we anticipate returning to the administration of certification exams in our exam center.

Candidates who were registered for the Fall 2020 Primary and Subspecialty exams were sent an email and a survey link.

More information will follow in the coming weeks. We know this has been a stressful time and hope that remote exams will allay many of our candidate’s concerns.We greatly appreciate your patience as we finalize the details.

Subspecialty Exam Update -  June 23, 2020

As a follow up to last week’s email, we want to let you know ABPath continues to diligently pursue alternatives for the upcoming Fall 2020 Primary and Subspecialty exams so that candidates may not have to travel to the exam center in Tampa, Florida. We ask that you do not make airline or hotel reservations at this time. 

Once our plans have been finalized, the schedule for exam administration will likely change from the previously published dates on our website, but exams will not be administered any earlier than currently scheduled. Currently, we do not plan to cancel the Fall Primary or Subspecialty exams; however, this could change.

We appreciate your patience and will notify candidates as soon as we have more information. Thank you.

We want to provide you with an update regarding the Fall 2020 Primary and Subspecialty Exams.

ABPath is currently pursuing alternatives for the administration of the fall exams so that candidates will not have to travel to the exam center in Florida. We understand the concern candidates may have because of the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 being reported in Florida. The health and safety of our candidates and staff are paramount. At this time, we do not plan to cancel the fall Primary or Subspecialty exams; however, this could change. The schedule for exam administration will likely change from the previously published dates on our website.

We are sorry for the uncertainty, stress, and anxiety that many are experiencing. We appreciate your patience and will notify candidates as soon as we have more information.

 

Exam Safety Update  - June 1

The ABPath recognizes candidates have questions and concerns about the safety and logistics of administration of the Fall Primary and Subspecialty certification exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This remains an uncertain time. We want to assure our candidates that we are developing a plan to minimize risk and administer the exam as safely as possible. As we finalize these procedures and develop contingency plans, we will continue to monitor recommended federal, state, and institution guidelines.

Your health and well-being, as well as the well-being of those with whom we work is paramount and will always be our priority.

We thank you for your patience and for the important work you are doing for patients and the public during this stressful time. We will notify you with specific information as it becomes available.

Exam Date Adjustments Update  - April 27, 2020

Due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing recommendations, we are adjusting the Subspecialty exam administration dates to provide a safer testing environment for our candidates and ABPath staff. The testing dates for select subspecialty exams have been extended so that we can accommodate candidates at a safer social distance.

You may be assigned to a date that is a day earlier or later than the originally posted testing window and/or it may fall on a weekend day. Your specific date assignment will be posted to your Board Correspondence tab in PATHway in mid-July 2020.

Neuropathology August 28
Forensic Pathology August 30-31
Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine *September 1-2
Chemical Pathology September 3
Medical Microbiology September 3
Dermatopathology *September 9-11
Molecular Genetic Pathology September 16-17
Pediatric Pathology  September 21
Hematopathology *September 22-25
Clinical Informatics (administered by Prometric) October to be determined

If you decide to cancel and do not wish to take a subspecialty exam in 2020 due to coronavirus COVID-19 concerns, you may cancel and receive a full refund of your exam fee. You must notify us via email at renee@abpath.org prior to your assigned exam date.
