TAMPA, Fla, (December 2018)- The American Board of Pathology (ABPath) is offering a new mobile app for diplomates participating in the ABPath CertLink® pilot, an online longitudinal assessment platform. ABPath CertLink was developed in partnership with the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) as a means for the development and delivery of assessments that help physicians evaluate their knowledge, fill knowledge gaps, and demonstrate proficiency. Participating diplomates have enjoyed the flexibility and have said it better meets the Continuing Certification (CC, formerly MOC) needs of busy physicians. The ABPath CertLink® mobile app is now available for download on tablets through Google Play (Android) and Apple (iPad) App Stores making this platform even more accessible and easy to integrate into physicians’ daily practice workflow.

ABPath CertLink was developed to enhance the CC Part III experience for diplomates and is expected to be an alternative to the current 10-year CC examination. Through the CertLink site or the new CertLink app, participants answer 15 multiple choice questions every quarter (3 months). Once answered, diplomates receive immediate feedback whether they answered the question correctly or incorrectly, a short narrative about the topic (critique), and references. Participants have a personalized dashboard which summarizes their ongoing performance and identifies their knowledge gaps. This approach keeps learning dynamic and continuous while strengthening pathologists’ ability to deliver quality, safe, and effective patient care in a rapidly changing health care environment.

The ABPath CertLink® mobile app is now available for download on tablets through Google Play (Android) and Apple (iPad) App Stores; it has not been approved for use on smartphones at this time. Since the app was developed for tablets only, it will only be displayed and accessible in the app store for the intended device (iPad and Android tablet); participants will not see it as an available app from a smart phone.

The CertLink app can be downloaded from the following links:
