Board Meeting Update
|
5/11/09 UPDATE
At its recent meeting, the American Board of Pathology made the following
decisions:
- The combined certification program in AP/NP will be continued with the
following changes:
- Effective immediately, all candidates will be required to pass the AP
examination before they will be allowed to sit for the NP examination.
- Effective 2010, candidates will pay $1800 for each examination (for a total
of $3600).
This decision was made based on the unique circumstances of the 2-year required
fellowship in NP. Combined certification in all other areas has been eliminated,
effective with residents who began training in 2009.
- Effective immediately, candidates may apply for more than one subspecialty
examination per year. If you had a subspecialty application returned for this
reason, you may re-submit it for review by the
Credentials Committee this year. These applications must be received in the ABP
office by May 28, 2009.
- The requirements for application to fellowships in Pediatric Pathology have
changed. Residents may now apply for a fellowship in Pediatric Pathology after
completion of two full years of training in AP/CP or AP.
